Nathan Cleverly rejects any expectation to put on a show in his homecoming fight against Tommy Karpency at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena on February 25. It will be the first time unbeaten Cleverly has fought on home soil since being crowned WBO light-heavyweight champion last year. Rather than seeking to dazzle the expected 5,000 sell-out crowd, the 24-year-old from Cefn Fforest is taking a professional approach to the occasion. "I'm going to enjoy the experience rather than feel the pressure," he said. "I'm out to be the best in the sport and to do that you must deal with these kind of pressures.
"I thrive on it, it's challenging and I look forward to it. "I want to enjoy the performance and put on a good display of boxing. "It could go the distance and the most important thing is that physically and mentally I'm prepared to go 12 rounds." The unheralded Karpency has lost two of his 24 fights, but Cleverly is treating him with respect. "It would be absolutely stupid and naive to underestimate any opponent in boxing, especially in a world title fight," he said. "It would be recipe for disaster. A lot of people have written Tommy off, but they're not the ones who are stepping into the ring. "Tommy's got nothing to lose and can give it everything knowing there's a big prize at the end of the line." - http://www.sportinglife.com/
