BOXING news 12BET update 12/18

FROCH UNDER WEIGHT LIMIT

Both Carl Froch and Andre Ward made the weight at the first attempt ahead of the final of the Super Six in Atlantic City on Saturday night.

WBA super-middleweight champion Ward made the 168lb (12st) limit on the money after WBC king Froch had tipped the scales half-a-pound lighter moments earlier.

The 'Cobra' was happy to trade words with his opponent at the traditional face-off while Ward also made his thoughts known.

The Nottingham banger seemed very relaxed just over 24 hours before the biggest fight of his career, maintaining the belief that he holds the upper hand despite entering the fight as a big underdog.

"I do strongly believe - and that's one of the things I told him - that he can't knock me out," Froch told Sky Sports News.

"He's a very good fighter, he's not a big puncher but I can punch very hard, and I am in the ring tomorrow night to let him know I can punch hard, from round one to 12 if necessary."

The weigh-in was well attended by British fans looking for a victory that would go a long way towards atoning for the defeat of Amir Khan in Washington last week. -http://www.sportinglife.com
