Australian Open Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs Rafael Nadal (ESP) ATP

Yet when the final rolled around, he beat Federer - who had an extra day to rest - in five sets that reduced the usually composed Swiss player to tears. Now a weary Djokovic has less than 48 hours to prepare to face Nadal, one of the most fit players in the game.

Abner Mares VS Joseph Agbeko 12BET Odds Bantamweight fight (in Anaheim, CA)12/04 11AM(GMT+8)

As an amateur, Mares compiled a record of 112-8 with 84 KOs. Mares won the U17 world championships and the bantamweight gold medal at the Central American games 2002 beating Juan Manuel López and the silver medal in the same division in 2003 at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo. At the junior world championships 2004 he finished second losing to Aibek Abdimomunov. He participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics for his native country. There he was beaten in the first round of the Bantamweight (54 kg) division by Hungary's Zsolt Bedák in a highly controversial decision.

On December 11, 2010, Agbeko was given the chance to regain his IBF title when he took on Yonnhy Pérez in the semi-finals of the Showtime Bantamweight tournament, which was televised live from the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington. Rather than brawling as he had done in his first fight with Pérez, Agbeko chose to use his boxing skills and stiff jab to cruise to a unanimous decision victory, with the judges scoring it 116-112, 117-111 and 115-113. Also on the card was Abner Mares, who defeated Vic Darchinyan via split-decision to advance to the finals and a showdown with Agbeko.

Jason Miller vs Michael Bisping Ultimate Fighter (in Las Vegas) 12BET review 12/04 11AM(GMT+8)

The middleweight match-up between Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 coaches Michael Bisping and Jason Miller is all set for this weekend.

As per usual, Bisping and Miller, after verbally bashing each other throughout the season, will now meet inside the Octagon to physically bash each on Saturday night.

But, unlike most seasons, when the two meet inside the cage it won't be on pay-per-view. Instead, for just the second time in the show's history, the coach vs. coach match-up will go down at the live Finale. And now it's going to be a five-rounder.

Bisping, a TUF veteran in every sense of the word (won TUF 3 and coached TUF 9), is currently the -200 favorite for this "Sin City" showdown.

Miller is no noob to this reality show thing. "Mayhem" has been the host of MTV's "Bully Beatdown" for three seasons dating back to March 2009.

All the ingredients are there. Controversial? Check. Gimmicky? Check. Can't stop talking? Check.

Oh, and he's a pretty good fighter, too. Despite coming in as a +160 underdog, he's proven in both stateside and International competition he's got the tools to beat anyone in the 185-pound division.

TUF 14 Finale will also feature, for the very first time in the long history of the show, finalists from the bantamweight (135-pound) and featherweight (145-pound) divisions. - http://www.mmamania.com

ALVAREZ TARGETS MAYWEATHER

Saul Alvarez has targeted a May showdown with Floyd Mayweather after extending his unbeaten record by beating Kermit Cintron in Mexico City.

The home favourite was defending his WBC light middleweight title and registered a a fifth-round technical knockout over his brave opponent.

After a cagey opening to the fight, Alvarez rocked Cintron with body shots in the fourth round sent his rival to the canvas. The bout looked set to end the there but Cintron somehow made it to the bell.

Cintron came out firing in the fifth but Alvarez was soon back on top and a flurry of combinations were enough for referee Hector Afu to step in and end the contest.

Alvarez feels he has now earned the right to face Mayweather and told USA Today: "Next year we want the best, we want Mayweather in May. Apart from the money, we want to fight the best in the world and he's the best pound for pound, so we want to fight him." - http://www.sportinglife.com

FIGHT WAS LOST IN FIRST ROUND - LIMOND

Willie Limond admitted he knew from round one that his British lightweight title challenge against Anthony Crolla was doomed.

The champion dominated a compelling contest at the Ravenscraig Sports Centre in Motherwell on Friday night and at the end, the 120-108, 120-108 and 120-109 scorecard in favour of the 25-year-old Mancunian confirmed an impressive first defence of his title.

Limond, 32, was despondent about the margin of defeat but had nothing but praise for his opponent.

"It was an uphill battle straight away," said the Glaswegian.

"It was a tough fight.

"Crolla was really good, I have to give him his due and that was it. He was better than me.

"He dictated the fight and to be fair it was one-sided. "I was gutted (with the scorecard) but there was nothing there last night. I don't know what it was with me.

"But I am taking nothing away from him, he was better than me and won the fight.

"Crolla is a good fighter and he can go far in the game."

Crolla's success built upon his blossoming reputation with some claims a shot at another Scot, WBO interim lightweight champion Ricky Burns, could be in the pipeline.

While Crolla admitted he would welcome such a fight, for now he was happy just to come through the first defence of his title.

"I'm very happy to get 12 rounds under my belt for the first time," he told Box Nation.

"I'm only 25, I'm still learning and I was up against a good fighter.

"Willie was very brave, but there were times when I probably should have put him out but I am learning.

"Against a fighter who people thought it was a 50-50 shot, I'm very happy."

When asked about a possible shot at Burns, he added: "I am not the sort of fighter who shouts out fights, but if that was a possibility it would be great."

Burns was in attendance for the fight as a commentator, but played down thoughts of such a match up.

"If Anthony and Kevin Mitchell fought I might take on the winner," he said.

"But right now I think there are probably bigger fights out there for me." - http://www.sportinglife.com

HAND INJURY RULES OUT GEORGE GROVES

George Groves has been forced to withdraw from his bout at the Liverpool Echo Arena on December 9 because of a hand injury.

The 23-year-old, who has enjoyed a stellar year with wins over great rival James DeGale and Paul Smith, suffered the injury in a training session this week in London and he has now been ruled out of his next contest - for which an opponent had yet to be named.

DeGale's WBO Intercontinental title against Jose Maria Guerrero will now headline the bill and a further fight could be added to the card.
He said: "I'm really gutted as I was coming along nicely in training and on course for the fight in a couple of weeks' time.
"The injury is a setback and I really wanted to end the year with four good wins.
"I'm sorry that my fans won't be able to see me in action, but I'll back early next year and ready to kick of 2012 with bang as I continue towards further titles."

Groves' manager and trainer Adam Booth was also disappointed at the news.
He added: "Obviously we are all disappointed as George was looking forward to getting back into the ring again so quickly after his great win over Paul Smith.
"At this stage of George's career it would be crazy to compromise him and carry an injury of that nature into the fight.
"He's been advised to rest it for now and we'll seek further medical guidance next week."- http://www.sportinglife.com/

Cotto-Margarito bout is on after license approved

NEW YORK (AP)—Antonio Margarito has been granted a boxing license in New York, keeping his title fight with Miguel Cotto on schedule for Dec. 3 at Madison Square Garden.

The New York State Athletic Commission licensed Margarito on Tuesday after a medical examination determined he was healthy enough to fight.
Last week, the commission ordered another examination of Margarito’s eye, which was seriously injured during his loss to Manny Pacquiao last year. The commission’s deliberate decision on Margarito’s fitness nearly forced promoter Bob Arum to move the pay-per-view rematch to another state. But earlier Tuesday, Cotto said he wouldn’t fight Margarito anywhere except New York, surprising Arum during a promotional conference call.- http://sports.yahoo.com

BOOTH PLAYS DOWN HAYE RETURN

Adam Booth has played down reports that David Haye is plotting a comeback.

The former WBA heavyweight champion officially hung up his gloves last month on his 31st birthday following a disappointing points defeat in his final fight with Wladimir Klitschko in July.

However, the Daily Telegraph claim Haye has held talks about a showdown with the Ukrainian's brother Vitali and is already training for spring return against the WBC champion.

Booth, who has guided Haye's career since the amateur ranks, confirmed offers have been put on the table but ruled out any imminent return for the former cruiserweight king.

"Yes I've had phone calls and communication," he told Sky Sports News HD.

"But as far as I'm concerned at the moment, the fight isn't happening and David is retired. That's all I can say.

"It's not for me to say, it's for David to say - it makes no difference to me."

Haye has at least returned to the ring at his old gym in London, sparring a couple of rounds with British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight champion George Groves.

Groves, who is back in action on December 9th, says he would not be surprised if his old mentor did come out of retirement to face Klitschko.

But Booth, who joked Haye "wheezed his way through" a couple of rounds last week, says the heavyweight soon realised "how far back it is from retirement". - http://www.sportinglife.com

KHAN NAMED FIGHTER OF THE YEAR

Unified WBA and IBF light-welterweight world champion Amir 'King' Khan has scooped the 2011 British Boxer of the Year gong at the annual awards ceremony held by the British Boxing Board of Control.

The Bolton star shook off stiff competition from contenders such as Ricky Burns, Carl Froch, Nathan Cleverly and Jamie McDonnell who have all enjoyed a fruitful year.

Khan, though, has had a highly successful 12 months, having beaten Argentine bruiser Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas last December before his homecoming to England in which he saw off the challenge of undefeated European champion Paul McCloskey in Manchester.

The highlight of the year, however, came against tricky New Yorker Zab Judah in July, when he unified the 140 pound division after a sensational performance in which he stopped the IBF world champion in the fifth round.

"I'm very proud to have won the British Boxer of the Year Award," said Khan. "It means a lot to me to be recognised with this award and gives me the motivation to strive for even more success in my career," he said.

"I would like to thank my team and fans for helping me pick up this award, without their help I would not be able to reach the levels I have over the last year. Freddie Roach, my trainer, has been a key figure in helping me become a unified world champion and I'm sure that the next 12 months will get even better for me.

The Olympic silver medallist was unable to make it to the event as he is currently in training ahead of his December 10 showdown with Lamont Peterson in Washington.

Speaking from his Los Angeles camp, Khan is confident ahead of a bout that he hopes will kick-start a big 2012.

"Training is going great and I feel ready to do the business on December 10. Lamont Peterson is a tough opponent and is a fighter with a very big heart, which showed in his comeback against Victor Ortiz," Khan said.

"But I'm confident, the hard work is nearly done and I'm ready to put on another show come fight night - it will definitely not be one to miss." - http://www.sportinglife.com

Even in Victory, Wanderlei Silva Knows He’s One Loss Away From Retirement

Wanderlei Silva reminded everyone why he’s a legend in combat sports on Saturday when he defeated former Strikeforce middleweight titleholder Cung Le by technical knockout at UFC 139 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. While logging an impressive performance, some are suggesting Silva should hang up his gloves, including UFC president Dana White.Even in decisive victory, White expressed his opinion that Silva is one fight away from being persuaded into retirement.

“In my opinion, I’m no doctor, but when it gets to a point where you start getting knocked out on a regular basis; I don’t want to see that anymore. I don’t want to see it,“ said White following the UFC 139 event.“Wanderlei is a warrior. He’s been around forever. People love him and I love him. He’s been great to us and to the sport. I’m not going to have that stuff happen,” added the UFC president. “I’m not doing that. I don’t want to see these guys stick around past their prime.”

Yes, it is true. The former Pride champion known as the “Axe Murderer” is no longer in his prime, but he’s still a fan favorite and competitive. He’s built a career on his aggressive style and highlight reel finishes, and while his best fighting days may be behind him, he’s still providing fans with clips to add to his highlight video.
White isn’t concerned whether or not Silva still puts spectators in the seats. He’s concerned for Silva’s well-being, even after a UFC 139 Fight of the Night performance.I’ve been very open and honest about it. He looked good tonight,” stated White about Silva’s performance.- http://sports.yahoo.com

Hatsu Hiokiwill return home for his next fight as he faces Bart Palaszewski at UFC 144 in Japan.
Sources close to the match-up confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that the bout has been verbally agreed by the participants for the show taking place Feb. 26 at Saitama Super Arena in Japan. After several years in promotions like Sengoku and Shooto, Hioki finally made his UFC debut in October. Ryan Bader vs Jason Brilz UFC 139 12BET 11/20 8AM GMT+8

Two light heavyweights looking to snap out of two-fight losing skids have been booked for a November meeting. That's when Ryan Bader (12-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Jason Brilz (18-4-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) will meet at UFC 139, officials today announced.

UFC 139 takes place Nov. 19 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. The night's main card, including an expected heavyweight title fight between champion Cain Velasquez and top contender Junior Dos Santos, airs on pay-per-view.

It's not clear if Bader vs. Brilz will be part of the broadcast. However, as MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) first reported earlier today, the event will get a "UFC Prelims" special on Spike TV. Bader, who won "The Ultimate Fighter 8," certainly is a possibility for the broadcast.

Bader, who was within arm's reach of a title shot following a 12-0 start to his career, now finds himself in a must-win situation following submission losses to now-champ Jon Jones at UFC 126 and former titleholder Tito Ortiz at UFC 132. The two-time Division I All-American wrestler had picked up wins over notables Keith Jardine and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira before the recent skid.

Brilz, meanwhile, made his UFC debut in 2008 and won three of his first four fights. In fact, the four-year NCAA Division II wrestler's only defeat came via close split decision to Eliot Marshall. But in his two most recent bouts, he's suffered additional losses to Nogueira (via controversial split decision), and – following a yearlong layoff due to injuries – Vladimir Matyushenko (20-second knockout) back in April at UFC 129. -http://mmajunkie.com

12BET Boxing News Update 11/17

Mailbag: Mayweather-Pacquiao bout not dead

The highly anticipated fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may not be dead just yet. Though Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, whose company has already reserved May 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to host the bout, is concerned that Pacquiao’s team is not interested, Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum said he’s simply not ready to talk now.

Arum did not rule out conversations for a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, but said he is not prepared to talk to Schaefer about it at the moment because he has a full schedule. Arum is promoting a WBC middleweight title fight in Houston between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Peter Manfredo Jr. on Saturday, then has a media day for Miguel Cotto in Florida, the Thanksgiving holiday, and then the Cotto-Margarito pay-per-view in New York on Dec. 3.

“Our position is simple and that is that right now, we’re not ready to talk,” Arum said Tuesday. “I’m in Los Angeles now, but I’m flying to New York in a couple of hours. I have a big fight to promote on Dec. 3.”
“Manny is on his way back to the Philippines today. In a few weeks, whether it’s a [Juan Manuel] Marquez rematch, a Mayweather fight, a fight with Timothy Bradley, or whatever, we’ll sit down with the appropriate parties and talk. But we’re not ready to talk about it now.”

Schaefer said he would like Arum to meet with him in Los Angeles later this week with retired federal judge Daniel Weinstein, an arbiter who has mediated several disputes between the companies.
Schaefer said he believes Arum is not interested in making the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, and so he said he is ready to move on and find an opponent who is willing to fight Mayweather. There are indications that Mayweather’s team has reached out to middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, though that could not be confirmed.

Ryan Bader VS Jason Brilz 12BET prediction UFC 139 (in San Jose - CA) 11/20 8AM(GMT+8)

Ryan Bader's UFC career began as a contestant on season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter. Bader, the first light heavyweight selected by coach Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, went on to win his first 3 fights on the show to fight with Vinicius Magalhães on December 13, 2008 at The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale. At the finale, Bader defeated Magalhães by way of a quick, first-round knockout, earning the title of "The Ultimate Fighter" and winning the traditional "six-figure UFC contract". An overhand right dropped Magalhães, and Bader up with strikes on the ground to take the win less than halfway through the first frame.

Brilz made his MMA debut in 2000. He went on to achieve an 11-win streak and has entered into various talks with the UFC throughout the years with the aim of joining the organization. Brilz finally secured his debut deal to fight in his native Omaha, Nebraska, at the UFC Fight Night 15 event.Brilz defeated Brad Morris in his UFC debut via TKO (punches) midway through the second round.Brilz then returned six months later to fight Tim Boetsch and won via unanimous decision at UFC 96.Brilz' first loss (and second in his career) came at the hands of The Ultimate Fighter 8 veteran Eliot Marshall, as Brilz lost via split decision, which was regarded as a controversial decision.Brilz bounced back against Eric Schafer at UFC Live: Vera vs. Jones, defeating him via unanimous decision.

Stephan Bonnar VS Kyle Kingsbury 12BET prediction UFC 139 (in San Jose - CA) 11/20 9AM(GMT+8)

Kyle Kingsbury, an avid fan of 80's music and fanny-packs, has improved drastically before our eyes in the past few years. Once on the brink of losing his job, he's now won four straight fights which includes a 21 second technical knockout and two "Fight of the Night" bonuses. He's hoping to keep the good times rolling against one of the UFC's most popular fighters.

Record: 11-2 (1 No Contest) overall, 4-1 in the UFC
Key Wins: Fabio Maldonado (Ultimate Finale 13), Jared Hamman (UFC Fight Night 22), Ricardo Romero (UFC 126)
Key Losses: Tom Lawlor (Ultimate Finale 8), Tony Lopez (KOTC: River Rage)

Stephan Bonnar's fight with Forrest Griffin was over six and a half years ago, but if he can score a victory on Saturday night, he'll be right back onto Griffin's level in the light heavyweight division. He's not as active in MMA as he once was, with a clothing line and his work with MMA Live on ESPN, but he will still be very relevant if he can defeat Kingsbury.

Record: 13-7 overall, 7-6 in the UFC
Key Wins: Krzysztof Soszynski (UFC 116), Igor Pakrajac (Ultimate Finale 12), Keith Jardine (UFC Fight Night 4)
Key Losses: Jon Jones (UFC 94), Forrest Griffin 2x (UFC 62, Ultimate Finale 1), Rashad Evans (UFC Fight Night 5)

This is a battle of two men who have been putting on solid performances as of late, with three "Fight of the Night" bonuses in their last five fights respectively. Both men like to go forward and trade big strikes so there is definitely potential for fireworks. Kyle Kingsbury has been on a nice roll with four straight victories in the UFC and if he can earn a "W" against a solid name like Bonnar, it will really push him into that next level. Bonnar wants to prove that he's still just as dangerous now as he ever was so this fight has some serious potential to be a crowd-pleaser. - http://www.mmamania.com

Rick StoryVS Martin Kampmann 12BET predicition UFC 139 11/20 9AM(GMT+80

This fight could end up a lot like the one between Kampmann and Sanchez. Story needs to control the fight in close and from a grappling standpoint. Kampmann is the better striker; he could hurt Story from a distance. In the end, both of these competitors are going to give it their all. I just think that Kampmann will catch Story at some point on his feet. It probably won't end the fight, but it will hurt Story enough to compel Kampmann to a decision victory in a very close fight.

Rick Story  is an outstanding wrestler and fighter in the clinch. He tends to wear opponents down; that's his game. Beyond the aforementioned, Story is tough and possesses good cardio. He's simply a tough out.

Martin Kampmann is a high level stand up fighter, with a diverse striking game. He's also a very good submission grappler. In the end, he's not great at any one thing necessarily, but he is very good at everything. - http://martialarts.about.com/
