AMIR KHAN: I'LL NEVER FIGHT PACQUIAO
Amir Khan has re-iterated that he will never fight pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.
Khan is mystified by recent speculation that his relationship with Wild Card stablemate Pacquiao had cooled. Those rumours had in turn led to talk the two may lock horns professionally in the future, but again Khan says it just won't happen.
He said: "That fight will never happen. I've always said to Freddie and Manny, Manny knows himself; we won't fight each other. We have too much respect for each other.
"I remember when I moved to the Wild Card Gym, and Manny was a big help bringing me back and also helping me out in stuff and training. We also trained together and this camp (ahead of Khan's fight with Lamont Peterson) we didn't spar together or anything because I have different opponent. Also, I trained a little bit later than Manny.
"But everything was cool. I think these are rumours people make up."
Freddie Roach, who trains both Khan and Pacquiao, backed the Bolton star's stance, saying: "You just heard it. I mean, they're friends and that's the way it is. They have a lot of respect for me and each other, and I don't see it happening. There are a lot of other fights out there and we'll look forward to them."
