CLEVERLY KEEN TO FACE FROCH
WBO light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly is open to the possibility of facing Carl Froch.
The unbeaten Cefn Forest fighter, 24, watched 'The Cobra' surrender his WBC super-middleweight title with a lop-sided points defeat to Andre Ward on Saturday night.
And Cleverly, who also has veteran WBC light-heavyweight king Bernard Hopkins in his sights, says a domestic showdown with Froch could prove to be a classic.
The Welshman told Sky Sports News: "I think it's a fight that would make sense - two British fighters and obviously I'm only one weight division up from Carl Froch and I'm world champion.
"It'd be a great fight for both of us and for the British public. It's inevitable that it would be an exciting fight because I know Carl likes to stand his ground and let shots go. Likewise with myself - I don't like taking a backward step. It could be a classic.
"If promoters sat together and made the fight, it could be done quite soon. We'll have to see how it pans out but there's no reason it can't happen.
"As for Froch v Ward, I think Andre Ward showed that he was different class on the night. He's probably one of the best pound-for-pound fighters out there. There's no disgrace for Carl Froch."
Cleverly was last in action in October when he battled to a majority decision over Liverpool fighter Tony Bellew. - - http://www.setanta.com
