THE LATEST ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE NEWS – The Stamford Bridge clash between Champions League winners Chelsea and Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday failed to produce goals from either side.
The 0-0 draw did not reflect lack of
attacking sharpness, with both sides exhibiting great control in defence. New
Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez stood for his side amidst an unwelcoming home
crowd, as he marked his first game for the side with a clean sheet.
Sergio Aguero went close to leading
City to win w1th ease,
with a half-time effort assisted by Edin Dzeko landing on keeper Petr Cech’s
save. Fernando Torres, formerly under Benitez’ Liverpool, made no instant
rebirth of his old form – a shot over the bar being his closest chance.
